The Pittsburgh Ceili Club is dedicated to promoting Irish culture through traditional dance and music.
To support our mission throughout the Pittsburgh area, we regularly hold ceili dances with live seisun ("session") musicians, a dance caller so dancers know the upcoming steps, and experienced dancers always willing to help newcomers.
Ceili - (pronounced like "kay-lee") The gathering of neighbors in a house to have a chat, music, dancing and a good time. You can dance or just watch while you enjoy the company. We promise you'll go home with a lighter heart.
Every Tuesday we sponsor an informal ceili dance at Mullaney’s Harp & Fiddle Pub (at 24th & Penn Ave). A free dance class begins at 7:15pm with the full ceili dance starting at 8pm.
Monthly ceilis and workshops are held at the Aspinwall American Legion (NEW LOCATION). We have live traditional Irish music and a dance caller/instructor, Liz Shovlin Grinko. She is a certified ceili dance instructor, sanctioned by An Coimisiun le Rince Gaelacha, The Irish Dancing Commission, based in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. Refer to the the Events tab to find an upcoming ceili or workshop.
